Annie is Montage’s longest-serving therapist, having joined the team in 2000. She started out as an in-demand massage therapist and later transitioned to offering esthetic services, which she continues today. Over the years, she has witnessed the beauty and wellness industry—and the South Bay—evolve and flourish. With thousands of satisfied clients treated by her capable hands, Annie’s expertise and dedication have made her a cornerstone of the Montage experience. In a conversation with Amanda, Montage’s Marketing Communications Manager, Annie reflects on her journey at Montage, her enduring passion for the industry, and what she’s excited about for the future.
Annie, You’re from Michigan originally, what brought you to Los Angeles?
Like many who are drawn to California, the sunshine and beautiful weather called to me. After so many winters in Michigan, the dream of California was appealing. I had visited Los Angeles a few times before deciding to make it my home–once when I was 13 with family friends, and another time with my dad on a business trip. I fell in love with the ocean and just knew it was a place I had to live. Looking back, I realize how brave that move was. I am very close with my family, and I knew only a few acquaintances from college in the area, but something in me knew it was the right decision.
What attracted you to the industry, and to Montage specifically?
I’ve always had a deep interest in health and wellness. My sister would rave about my massages, and one of my best friends encouraged me to take a class and get certified. By the second day of class, I knew this was my calling. I was ready for a career change, and that was it—I quit my job in logistics and fully committed to massage training.
While working at a chiropractor’s office, someone mentioned Montage to me, so I decided to visit and fill out an application. The moment I met Dianne and felt the energy of the space, I knew I had found my home away from home. I love connecting with clients and building nurturing relationships in this beautiful and supportive community.
What drew me to Montage wasn’t just the positive energy of the spa, but also Dianne as an owner. She has consistently supported, encouraged, and inspired me to thrive and grow in my career, and I’m truly thankful for that.
What are your biggest accomplishments within the industry?
I feel my biggest accomplishment is maintaining a loyal clientele for over 24 years. They have transitioned with me from massage to esthetics, and their continued trust and commitment is what I am most grateful for and proud of.
Are there any misconceptions people have and how do you address them?
One of the misconceptions I work to dispel is that estheticians will judge you based on your skin. I’m not here to judge your skin concerns; I’m here to assess your skin and provide personalized recommendations for treatments and products. My objective is to help you achieve your skincare goals by offering support, uplifting your confidence, and educating you along the way.
What are you most excited about for the future?
I love what I do and can’t wait to keep doing it! My passion lies in making a difference by helping clients look and feel their best. I’m committed to continuously improving my skills and staying informed on the latest practices and treatments.
Is there anything else you’d like people reading to know?
I am here to help you look, feel and be your best self! Thank you for putting your trust in me.
